Ireland Tour 2016

Join me for this unique trip through Ireland, visiting many of the places that have inspired my writing, from ancient tombs, the peat bog and its hidden treasures, and the music and folklore and otherworldly aspect of the people and the places, past and present. We'll head across the midlands taking in the historic Tullamore Dew distillery, a bog preserve, the ancient Hill of Uisneach, and a museum built right over a 2,000-year-old oak road. Then up to the northwest shore (more bogs), beaches, ancient settlements and tombs, visiting an archaeological field school, the fantastic Museum of Country Life, and a few traditional music sessions. Down through Connemara to Galway, where we'll visit with storyteller Eddie Lenihan, explore the Aran Islands ancient sites and Galway City, then back across the midlands, stopping at the ancient monastery of Clonmacnoise, and on to Dublin, where we'll have a tour highlighting the 1916 Rising, visits to the National Museum and the Book of Kells, perhaps a session or two, and finally our farewell dinner.

Options available for extending your stay in Ireland before or after the tour.
